Why can’t you buy BC wine in Ontario?
Short answer: You can now order from BC wineries the LCBO has authorized; others aren’t allowed to ship to Ontario yet.
What the official sources say
- Ontario lets out-of-province producers sell directly to consumers only if they are authorized under the LCBO’s Out of Province DTC Program.
- Authorized producers must pay the LCBO markup on the basic price and submit quarterly reports, so not every winery has signed up.
- The LCBO keeps an updated list of authorized producers; check it (or the list below) before ordering.
